0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: good: Alexander gives good projects. bad: His class sessions are confusing as hell, plan and simple. He skips around topics and spends days on something that seems tiny. Any answer anyone can give in class is wrong. All that said, he grades very well. And if you have the courage to go to his office, he is helpful. Overall I learned a lot from his class, if not from his lectures. |

CS 414 Graduate Student Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 11:49 am, Jun 9, 2003 |
0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: I agree with the other student who said Roger is a bit inconsistent about answering email; but in his defense, Roger was out sick quite a bit this semester. He's very easy to talk to outside of class, and makes you defend your opinions in class. He says his bark is worse than his bite, and I'd say that's true. His approach to OOD is pretty cool: he gave us a monster project for the term and then coached us through the process of doing significant design before we wrote a single line of code. It was a bit scary to have no real code written with only 3-4 weeks to go; but the teams which did it that way seemed to have the fewest problems. |

0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Dr. Alexander was too hard to follow and every class was a gessing game to see what he wanted. In person hes a real nice guy but the tests and quizzes had lots of trick questions. Oh yeah, he wanted us to send lots of questions by email but he only answered about half of mine and other people said the same thing. |

CS 414 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 10:33 pm, Dec 4, 2004 |
0 of 8 people found the following evaluation helpful: His approach to class is new and refreshing. Although, sometimes it's hard to understand what he wants and what he's getting at. Sometimes we would spend days on what seemed like a trivial concept. Tests and quizzes were pure trickery and very upsetting. The assignments and projects were practical and useful. He is a very fair grader too. The class did lack organization. Grades were returned months after completion of assignments. The semester project was given to us about 3 weeks before the end of the semester and that added a lot of pressure. That would have been nice to have towards the beginning of the class. |
