BMS 305 Senior Grade Earned: B Required (Support) 3:23 pm, Jun 16, 2009 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Mark is a great professor. He really knows his stuff, but he's not afraid to admit when he doesn't know something, which not enough professors will do. He is by far the best lecturer I've had. You need to attend lecture because he will go into details about clinical importance of anatomical structures. You also need to go to lab and open lab. Anytime you are able to go to open lab, just pretend that this is mandatory class time. No exaggeration. Also, be certain to take time to study the K9 anatomy DVD. This is an important tool in learning what a *good* dissection looks like and can help you to identify structures on a dog you've never seen (which will most likely be used for the exam). The students who dissect the specimens generally do a good job, but sometimes you just get one that's been butchered, and it's hard to learn from it. |

1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: great professor. This is an awesome class but prepared to work your butt off!! I was only 2 points out of 450 total points from an A and he would not curve it up so don't expect him to. Go to open labs and watch his lectures online! And be prepared to smell bad every time you go to open lab, which should be often! This is a great class and Mark is really funny and enthusiastic. |

BMS 301 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 10:36 am, Feb 26, 2009 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Mark was awesome. Lectures were entertaining as well as full of information. It definitely wasn't a class where lecture is a waste of time. The lecture exam questions will come almost word for word from what he writes on the board. Great teacher, I learned more in this class than any other at CSU. |

BMS 305 Junior Grade Earned: B Elective 6:41 pm, May 1, 2008 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: I will be honest -- the B I got in this class was MY doing, not Mark's. Like most of us, I BOMBED the first test, and had to work my butt off to barely get a B in the class. Mark is extremely by the book, so expect no favors from him. 90% is an A, 80% is a B, expect NO exceptions, no 1 point away = the next grade up. Mark, as he should, runs this class like a Med/Vet school class in waiting. There are no excuses accepted, and you either make it, or break it, just like the real world. Now that I have said this, Mark is without doubt THE BEST professor I have run across at CSU, and the most likable. He is awesome, he knows he is loved, yet it does not go to his head in any way. He more than returns the favor. I have yet to meet another professor who works as hard to make his classes fun for his students, is more approachable as long as you do not ask him to bend the rules, nor is more in your corner in every way than is Mark Frasier. There are simply not enough superlatives for a man such as he. He knows his anatomy, both human and animal, and he takes great joy in sharing it and spreading the knowledge. I personally know of Veterinarians who took classes he t/a'd in 1971, that still speak of him with great fondness. That is an impact, particularly for someone who is first and formost a human anatomist. We Vet people try not to hold his predisposition toward human anotomy against Mark, but to be honest it is very difficult to hold any grudges against Mark. To put a not so fine point on it, if I am able to become half the practicioner Mark is an educator, I shall consider myself truly fortunate. Thank you Mark for the best class I have ever taken. |

BS 301 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 1:13 am, Dec 13, 2006 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Awesome professor for such a difficult class. Getting a C in the class was completely my doing. Mark presented all material needed to succeed, it just takes time to learn it. Very hard class but Mark stays upbeat and has a sense of humor. Highly recommended!! I learned more than I could of imagined. |

BS 301 Senior Grade Earned: N/A Elective 11:03 pm, Oct 16, 2005 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Mark Fraiser is a blast! His class is so much fun and every lecture is packed! A couple of warnings: lectures do go quickly so don't worry about making your notes look pretty, and notes and/or additional study material aren't on-line so don't miss class. The text for the class is worthless, but the objectives really help. I bought the Netter atlas and the photographic atlas, but going to open labs helps the most. It's a really fun class, but it's also fast-paced and challenging. You can't slack off and pull off an A in this class. |

BS 300 Graduate Student Grade Earned: A Elective 6:21 pm, Aug 31, 2004 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: This class is new for Mark, but don't be fooled: he knows his animal anatomy! Do not be fooled also by his affable and approachable manner, the multiple choice tests in this lecture class are EXTREMELY picky. You MUST go to class, and take notes (don't write down the powerpoint stuff, get that from WebCT). Every detail given about the slides is fair game on exams, so don't miss class (lectures are interesting and move quickly, and Mark works hard to make class fun). Labs can be overwhelming, make sure you go over the material before lab to make it smoother. Lab exams are again, picky, but if you attend lab and find everything on your lab sheet you should be fine. Have fun, this was my FAVORITE class ever! |

BS 301 Junior Grade Earned: C Elective 12:49 pm, Aug 26, 2004 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: He is one of the consistently highest rated teachers in the University. His lectures are a lot of fun, and he covers a tremendous amount of material but makes it learnable. You either do really well on the lecture exams or you have tremendous difficulty -- He writes questions which apply the knowledge he gave you in class -- i.e. 'If a patient were to cut this nerve, what muscles would still be able to bend the knee?' a? a and b? a, b, and c? etc. Basically, he makes sure you know your stuff. The lab is fabulous, and one of the few opportunities you get to be around cadavers outside of medical school. Enjoy! |

BMS 305 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 8:12 pm, Aug 1, 2010 |
I love Mark. Fantastic professor, really entertaining, NEVER MISS HIS LECTURE that is probably the worst thing to do. The first lab practical freaked me the hell out and I bombed it - BAD. That's why I got a C, and I knew it. Mark is easily approachable and a great guy to talk to. He gave me a lot of encouragement when I felt I was going to fail and that this was a sign I was going to be a failure as a vet student applicant. He knows his class is difficult and admitted to me that his first anatomy class, he barely managed to get a B. He'll help you in any way he can. Definitely make friends with one of his TAs though, because you will need to grab them before the rest of the RUDE people in your class steal them away. Its like a freaking circus in labs trying to grab TAs to get help. I think anatomy lab brings out the worst in people, but I suppose that cant be helped. Definitely make sure to study the horse legs for the thoracic limb exam. There were a ton of them on ours for some reason, despite his "we focus mainly on dogs" approach... horse and cow are super important all the time too. I wish I had known that going into the first exam. lol.

BMS 301 Senior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 9:21 pm, Jul 7, 2010 |
One of the best professors you can have at CSU. Be very sure to take anatomy seriously for the first test, because there is a lot of information to know. Not challenging information to learn, but a large quantity of info. Go to the open labs and study every day and it will not be a problem.

BMS 301 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Support) 9:54 am, Dec 18, 2009 |
1 of 2 people found the following evaluation helpful: Great class. Mark truly does care about his students and is extremely knowledgeable about human anatomy. You will need to work your butt off to get an A but you will learn a lot and legitimately enjoy this class. A lot of people are surprised about the difficulty of the class by the first exam and then figure out how much work is required to do well. Do not let yourself fall into this hole! Study for the first exam and realize that in the lab section of the exams you really do not have much time to think. The entire process is somewhat intimidating and you literally need to be able to look at something and know it. If you memorize the notes related to the objects you an literally ACE the lecture component of the exam. This class is a true asset to CSU. |

BMS 301 Senior Grade Earned: A Elective 10:52 am, Oct 24, 2008 |
Mark is amazing and VERY knowledgable. I was one point away from an A, and I got it from taking the optional final, something most people don't do. I also BOMBED the first exam, which is why there is the optional final. By far the most engaging and inspiring person I've ever run across here at CSU.

BS 301 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 4:22 pm, Jan 6, 2007 |
Yes, mark is a great professor. he's funny and a great lecturer. But what you really need to know is about the tests. THEY ARE REALLY HARD. Study study and then study more. DON'T BOMB THE FIRST TEST. that will kill you in the end. I only made a B because i aced every test after the first exam. the fact the lectures are so cool blind many people, most of the test information is in the text book. you need to know MORE than what he says in lectures in order to survive this class. BUY THE OPTIONAL BOOKS. Turns out they're not so optional after all.

BS 301 Senior Grade Earned: N/A Elective 9:47 pm, Oct 24, 2006 |
I absolutely love Mark. Great professor, good attitude, funny, easygoing & really knows his stuff. He always start class with a joke & a smile on his face. Very understanding & willing to help you out. Only complaint, his lectures are a little hard to follow- he speaks kinda fast & scribbles all over the board. Gross Anatomy was a challenge- also wish there were practice exams to look at too. Other than that, fantastic.

Mark Frasier is an incredible professor. He take a course that has a ridiculous amount of material to present and makes it both feasible and entertaining. I would highly recommend both Mark and this course to anyone interesting in the subject.

BS 301 Senior Grade Earned: A Elective 1:34 pm, Dec 6, 2004 |
I had gross anatomy early on. Mark was actually my first college professor which was great. He is very clear in how he explains the tpoics and his tests are very fair. Tough, but fair. I think I learned more new information in that class than anywhere else. He makes class sessions informing and enjoyable, funny too. For anyone thinking about taking this class, do it, you'll be impressed.

I absolutely love Mark! He is one of the most awesome teachers I have ever had. I have never missed a class with him... the only class that I never miss. His lectures are fun, and he knows how to keep the students interested. I just can't say enough about him. He inspires me and many other students to pursue what we want, and to have lots of fun along the way. You'll love his classes.

BS 301 Senior Grade Earned: B Elective 11:11 am, Aug 26, 2004 |
He is an excellent teacher that entertains as well as teaches. I strongly recommend this course to anyone wanting to learn the human body in an enjoyable way. The lecture test proved challenging, but the lab was the best part of the class.

0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Mark can explain everything well, he is very enthusiastic, and though there is a lot of material he makes it all fairly easy to understand. Ask him questions during lab, he will give you answers and these may turn up on tests! If he says something in class, especially if it is clinically related, write it down even if he doesn't! He looooves clinical examples. Go to every open lab possible. And see him after a test to look over what you got wrong in the lecture portions of the exams (only he and Todd can access them) Good luck! |

0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Mark is very enthusiastic about this course, which makes it easier to absorb the material in lecture. However, there is a ton of material to cover and memorize. I worked my butt off and still only got a B because the only grades you receive are tests and weekly quizzes which are only 4 points apiece. The first test is what brought me down in the class, so make sure you study the hardest for that one and go to as many open labs as possible. |

BS 301 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 11:41 am, Feb 8, 2010 |
0 of 3 people found the following evaluation helpful: This is the only class I have ever needed professor help in, however, Mark Frasier refused to help me outside of class. There is a one day a week lab then there are "optional" open labs at times not scheduled for the class. If you have other classes or reasons you can't go to the open labs, you are screwed in this class |
