Is class required a lot of reading and work. He is a hard grader on papers. For any little mistake he will take of 5-10 points. Overall, he is a pretty good teacher and is passionate about what he teaches. Be prepared to work hard in his class. Also, if you go in his office hours he is always willing to help you.

Abeyta is definitely a thinker, and he appreciates people who do the same. His course was about learning more than grades. Last semester he would give us a few assignments, only to forget about them until we reminded him a month later. We also watched like 5 movies that we incorporated into other assignments, but for the most part were just enjoyable. As long as you do everything, you will get a ton of points for completion. Also, he is a stickler on grammar. DO NOT make dumb mistakes in grammar; it will cost you. Other than that, enjoy his class, it can be a trip.

This class requires a LOT of reading outside class. If you do not read prior to coming to class, prepare to be lost. Tests are comprised mostly of essay questions. Abeyta followed the syllabus every day, so I always knew what was coming up. It is not hard to get a good grade in this class if you are willing to put forth the effort, but 310 was NOT a class someone could just coast through with minimal effort.
