C 335 Senior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 7:30 pm, Dec 12, 2007 |
2 of 2 people found the following evaluation helpful: Professor Barisas is a good teacher for students willing to put some effort into the class. If you briefly go over the day's material before coming to class his lectures are great. If not, they are fast paced and hard to understand. |

CHEM 107 Freshman Grade Earned: C Required (Major) 12:29 am, Nov 19, 2008 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: A very smart man, but not a good teacher. He sits in front of the class and just reads from the powerpoints. I would recommend not going to class since all of the notes are posted on ramct. The tests are hard, but whenever you do the homework - you get extra credit. And you get extra credit for your iclicker questions too. I would recommend not getting him as the professor. |

CHEM 107 Sophomore Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 10:36 am, Nov 16, 2008 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: George is a good man, he explains things very thouroughly, sometimes he goes into too much depth for a simple explanation. He just goes off of his slides so going to class is only necessary if you cant read the notes and the material from the book yourself. Students give him a hard time, his class isn't that much fun, but he does know precisely what he's talking about |

CHEM 107 Junior Grade Earned: No Credit General Ed 5:32 pm, Oct 29, 2008 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: George's lecture isn't riveting, but if you listen you'll learn. He's one smart dude and has a geeky sense of humor. Understand that the man studied at Oxford and is passionate about his field of work. Kids are damn rude to him in class, and I think it's because they don't realize how hard he works. |

CHEM 107 Freshman Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 10:49 pm, Oct 26, 2008 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: I actually liked him, most people don't but as long as you work and read it's not that bad. I thought he had some funny jokes and you can tell he's passionate about what he's teaching. People are just rude in his classes, sometimes he gets sidetracked, but still a decent professor. |

CHEM 103 Sophomore Grade Earned: B General Ed 6:41 am, Feb 15, 2008 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: I didn't go to class often. I was able to get a B by just reading the summary section of the textbook the night before the test, and read a few of his slides. He teaches right from them, so there was really no point in going to the class all that often. I can't really say much more, take it with someone else if you actually want to enjoy it. |

C 103 Sophomore Grade Earned: B General Ed 1:55 am, Dec 21, 2006 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Terrible class. Barisas reads straight from his slides. He doesn't even face the class most of the time. He posts all his notes on-line as well so going to class is nearly pointless as all class consists of is him reading his slides (lectures are extremely dull). He also seems to get confused quite often with his own examples which can be extremely frustrating when trying to understand a topic. However if all your looking for is to complete a science credit this is an easy class to get at least a B in. The tests are fairly straight forward and Barisas offers lots of extra credit. |

CHEM 107 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 1:12 pm, Dec 29, 2009 |
This class is boring and you can tell he doesn't want to be there. (Neither would I-our class was rude and never payed attention). If this is required Barisas is decent to take it with because you really only have to do the mastering chemistry assignments and read the book and you can easily get an A, even without the attendance. He offers lots of EC.

C 103 Sophomore Grade Earned: B Elective 10:18 pm, Jan 19, 2007 |
George Barisas had horrible lectures! I fell asleep most of the time. He reads directly from the slides, which are posted online, which come straight from the book. I just read the chapters in the book and did the problems to study. His exams weren't too hard. He offers extra credit which helps. I have never taken a chem class in my life and getting a B was fairly easy.

CHEM 107 Sophomore Grade Earned: C General Ed 4:46 pm, May 17, 2010 |
0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Having failed this class the first time I took it with a different professor, this guy was awesome, but it was like a college stereotype of the professor who only speaks in monotone and doesn't care whether you pass or fail as long as hes getting paid. the only reason I passed this time was because of the extra credit that he offered. he lets you drop one test but doesnt curve the class otherwise. he has iclicker questions but you only get credit for doing them if you get them right...if you absolutely have to take a chem class at csu then i suggesting taking it with him simply because he gives out extra credit but if you can avoid it then take it at front range! |

CHEM 107 Sophomore Grade Earned: B General Ed 4:26 pm, May 6, 2009 |
0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: This was a miserable class. The professor reads DIRECTLY off the slides and fails to elaborate anything more. I barely attended class and taught myself the material and noticed a better performance on his tests when I reviewed the lectures myself instead of when he taught them. You are better off getting a tutor to help you understand this stuff then going to lecture. Class was the longest 50 minutes of my life. The professor is nice and he means well, he just isn't explicit with his lectures. |

CHEM 107 Sophomore Grade Earned: D Required (Support) 7:51 pm, Dec 3, 2008 |
0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: if you end up taking this class, just wait until you dont get this professor in the next semester. and if you do get him read your book and do all the problems...but what if you have trouble or need to talk to him about a grade you ask? he will make you feel like a 3rd grader thats in the "slow" class. his study sessions dont help at all and if you ask a question in class he will shrug and sake his head. he knows his stuff thats for sure he just has no idea how to teach it. by far the worst professor i have ever had, dont even take this class just save your money. |

CHEM 103 Freshman Grade Earned: F Required (Support) 1:08 am, Jan 13, 2008 |
0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: This guy happened to be the biggest dumbass ever. I dreaded going to class when i could just read all that he taught on his slides, on my computer. All you have to do is do homework and get a D on the tests and you shoud be fine. Did i mention he is a dumbass? Learn how to teach and you will be valued to CSU. He writes the books he teaches from so he should be able to share some of his findings but justs reads off of slides to you, crap!!! Whats the point of a teacher when you could do better reading everything out of your book? Fire him asap or else he will never stop. He must be stopped. Please let him write his books but there is no need for him to get paid for reading a book. I suck at chem. and i could be a better teacher than him, honestly. Waste of time and waste of pay. |

0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: This guy is so freakin boring!!!!!! I went to class a lot, but I was pretty much just doing the sudoku the whole time. All he does is read off his slides...he doesn't even look at the class. Basically, he's boring...if you can avoid him, you definitely should. |

C 103 Junior Grade Earned: B General Ed 1:44 pm, Jan 13, 2007 |
0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Terrible lecture professor-I'm sure he's brilliant but he sucks at lecture. He reads directly from his slides, which you can get online, and doesn't offer any tips about his exams. I stopped going to class and used the time to read the book and found it a much better use of my time. He also offers lots of extra credit and drops your lowest test score, so just do the problems and the reading and a B is pretty easy. Even if you hate science. |

C 103 Junior Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 2:10 am, Apr 19, 2006 |
0 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Dr. Barisas was fair in his grading. His tests weren't too hard, but they weren't easy. He offered an extra credit assignment for every test (which actually helps you study for the test). Overall, I would recommend him if you hve to take this class. |
