LSPA 201 Senior Grade Earned: C Required (Support) 4:15 pm, May 18, 2010 |
Patricia is the best Spanish professora I have had at CSU yet. She is from Spain and a fun, lively woman. Our entire class loved her I am pretty sure. Unfortunately, I had a strong B all semester and then the final dropped me down to a C. I work very hard and am most definitely not a C student. I have trouble believing that this wasnt a mathematical mistake on her part, as I argued with her over what my grade should have been. But aside from that she is great. I would recommend keeping your graded papers in case a similar situation happens to you!

For an oral communication class, she was a great professor. I never had her lecture us on grammatical principles though, so I do not know how she would be for the 100 and 200 levels. But she increased my confidence in speaking and graded oral presentations fairly. Good professor, though not very difficult.

Patricia was such an AMAZING professor! She truly cares about each and every student. She is from Espaņa so she speaks very well and a little fast, but I could understand her perfectly. If you don't understand, she's totally understanding and will re-phrase or repeat whatever without making you feel stupid. If you can't speak well in Spanish, or in front of others, she will help you and makes the classroom a really comfortable place. She's also so hysterical and enthusiastic about teaching. I TOTALLY recommend taking her. It sucks thought because she doesn't teach any higher level classes. But she was awesome. She doesn't have any tests, just a few presentations and quizzes over the almost nightly short stories and vocabulary--but the homework would only take 15-30 min, nothing hard at all.

I loved having Patricia for Spanish class. She was a fun teacher who was excited about the material. Although she is a bit tougher on grading, she is willing to talk with you outside of class about things and will help you if you ask for it. I am normally a straight A student and freaked out when I got a C on the first test. However, I ended up with an A in the class. Make sure to do the exercises in the cuaderno, because they are helpful! She also requires you to turn in "diarios" periodically which are usually kind of fun to write, but make sure to proofread and check your work! Overall, Patricia is a tough grader, but very willing to help and lots of fun to have for a teacher! She is the first Spanish teacher I have had who pushed me to better-- just as a teacher should do!

Patricia is the first and only native-speaker I have ever had, and is the one of the reasons I changed my major to Spanish. She Is very clear and when you don't understand something, she is good at trying to explain it in a different way that may make sense. She is the first (and, again, only) Spanish instructor who didn't allow us to speak any english at all during class. It was really hard and frustrating, but I appreciate it now. I had her for Spanish 200 also (I got a B in that class). I am SPA 300 during summer school right now, and I think I learned more from her than I am in this class. She can be a flake sometimes (we had to do "diarios" and she lost mine-but I was not counted off for it, she recognized it as her own mistake), which was frustrating, and she is a really strict grader. However, she is very fair with her grading, and always rounds up, if necessary. And make sure if you are late for a class you tell her not to mark you absent after class because that is how she grades participation!...it's not worth a very high percentage of your overall grade, but why take the hit if you can help it?

Patricia is one of the cutest ladies I have ever met and by far my favorite professor that I've had at CSU. She is extremely entusiastic and has a great sense of humor. She always jokes with our class and makes us laugh. Besides being fun and silly, she is also a great teacher. She makes class really exciting and doesn't teach directly from the book. She is from Spain and has a lot to tell us about culture and the language in general. She is funny, pretty, and very smart. There was not a day that she was not in a good mood. I absolutely loved her class and I learned a lot. The work load is not too bad at all, and although some of the material is difficult, Patricia makes you want to work hard. I would definitely recommend taking her class if you get lucky enough.

LSPA 200 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 12:11 pm, Jan 20, 2008 |
Patricia is hands down the best spanish teacher I have had. She is extremely knowledgeable and knows how to teach the language. I had her for 107, 200, and I'm enrolled in her 201. Patricia has a really fun personality, she makes a lot of faces and acts out what she is saying too, so that helps. She is very fair in her grading, but the test are made by the department and sometimes seem unreasonable. After 100 levels, you start to play less games, and unlike this other kid said, DO GO TO CLASS! Participation is a major part of your grade. You don't get too much homework, mostly stuff in a workbook that has the answers at the back. Do the homework by yourself if you want to learn, because you don't get too much class time to practice. What you do learn in class is really helpful and she often teaches the harder concepts in her own way which was easier than the book. Bottom line, take Patricia's class! Ella es el mejor profesor!

L 107 Junior Grade Earned: C Elective 10:41 pm, Aug 15, 2007 |
This professor is fun and excited about class. She is from Spain and has the Spanish lisp. I took a summer course with her and she seemed very unnatural at teaching. She had us play lots of games and was very casual on the actual teaching. Most of the her class was set up in a "you read the book, and if you have any questions ask them" sort of way, so even if she only breezes through a concept you are very required to know it much better than she taught it. So do your homework and don't show up to class. Although I will say the 'C' is completely my fault for not studying as much as I should have.
