Dont fault her for her inteligence. Perhaps people that rate her bad as intimidated by a strong, intelecual, academic women. Her passion is unrivaled in the speech comm department. And if you care about the class and try, she cares about you. She is so fair in grading, and if you dont understand her, TELL HER, dont just bitch behind her back. I have had classmates ask her to restate things, and she even asks students for help to restate ideas sometimes. She is so caring and loves to teach! And she loves her students. her classes dont have major exams, just many little reading quizs, multiple choice, and 2 papers. This makes it possible to listen instead of scramble for notes. I retain so much for her, and am a DIE HARD chani fan!!! If she leaves, which she is thinking of doin Fall 10, csu will suffer a great loss! Love ya Chani, keep being great! The use of media enhanced the class a great deal. Chani is clear in her lectures and instructions. She will work with the students individually or as a class to get the information across. She will adjust the class and teach it differently depending on the makeup and interactions of the students. For example, our class was not as vocal and we didn't respond in the same way as her morning class so she adjusted her apporach. There were quizzes from the reading and media labs. The media labs provided the opportunity to get a 5 on everyone if you ask the TA to review it and give you suggestions before you hand it in. There were about 40 students in my class and she knew most, she tended to know you by name if you participated in class. There was a midterm and final in addition to the media labs and quizzes. Our final happened to be online, but its not always that way. It is kind of a negative that there is only 100 points in the course. But, overall a very good class and I would take Chani again. This was a refreshing class compared to the many math and science courses that are the major part of my engineering schedule. Was this rating helpful to you?

She is a briliant professor. yes, she requires alot of reading and doesnt post notes, but thats why you some to class. SHe is so fair and understanding. She is enthusiastic, and passionate. She speaks very fast and very intelectually! However, ask her to slow down, or even dumb it down, and she will. She just assumes college kids have a larger vocabulary that "awsome" and "dude!" She challenges you, while creating a fun and lively environment. Anyone who doesnt like her, is bitter about a grade or never went to class. She actually gets to know her students and cares. I cant wait to take Music Group Study with her next semester, SP10!!! I LOVE CHANNI!!!!!! Was this rating helpful to you?

SPCM 335 Junior Grade Earned: B Required (Major) 11:54 am, Jun 17, 2009		She speaks very fast, but will repeat anything as many times as you need. Absolutely fabulous professor with some amazing advice for how to succeed in college and in life. Her class was life altering. I am so grateful for taking Women and Comm with her. SPCM 342 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Major) 5:43 pm, May 15, 2008		She was a wonderful teacher. She really knew what she was talking about made class interesting and although it was very challenging it made you a better thinker, writer and reasoner because of it. Assignment and course setup may seem overwhelming when you get the syllabus, but it isn't. It is easy, and I learned an awful lot. Not to mention she is funny as hell, she shows interesting and relevant things in class, discussions are meaningful, and her grading is fair. Was this rating helpful to you?

Everyone complained that her vocabulary was too difficult to understand, we understand you're smart Chani but give it a rest. After the midterm everyone complained about her word choice. She also is not technology savvy at all. If you go to every class, you can probably get an A but she is extremely wishy washy. Was this rating helpful to you?

The lectures are not posted online, however i went everyday and people that never went did better than i did. The course is interesting when she isn't using big words that she makes up. Overall, if you are going to take pop culture for your arts and humanities take it with the other teacher, or choose a different option Was this rating helpful to you?
