Dr Ames is very knowledgable. He is very experienced and knows a lot about livestock. This class never been offered before. He does go on tangents A LOT, but he is fun and not boring. He helps students when needed and always wants to recognize people who help him!

This guy has it down!! Yes, he has the experience but for being such a "mature" professor, he seems to have never really acquired that crankiness that old professors sometimes do. Well, most days. You can't fail this class unless you do nothing because he's very clear about what to study. He takes the time to provide study guides, he'll change his teaching method, he provides a copy of his lectures, he makes it very clear what will be on exams and he provides appropriate practice for them in the form of homework and he's totally approachable. If he ever really retires, he'll be hard to replace.

Ames was an ok professor. His lectures were pretty boring, which is not a good combination with an 8 am class, and some of his jokes were just downright painful. As far as his tests go, a lot of studying is required, but if you can get ahold of previous tests, it will help you out a lot.

I agree that Ames is inappropriate to his students. He is also haughty and arrogant; he favors the students who have grown up around agriculture and looks down on those who haven't. Avoid.

Dr. Ames is the worst professor I have had at CSU. He is innappropriate with all of his students and a terrible teacher. He is too busy hitting on girls to actually teach. He tests on things never discussed durring class or in the reading because he gets confused on what he taught last semester compared to this semester. Be prepared for a tough class that will take up a ton of your study time, but to sleep through all of the lectures, unless of course you are one of the girls getting a massage from him while he lectures.

Dr. Ames is a very respectable man who knows a lot when it comes to the field of animal science. However he is easy to get off topic so be prepared to have some off the wall conversations. He usually tries to keep class light hearted but every once in a while he has a bad day and takes it out on the whole class. If you participate and show interest he usually likes you and thus will pick on you during class. Don't ditch class, he notices even if you think he doesn't.
