JTC 211 Junior Grade Earned: N/A Required (Major) 5:27 pm, Apr 14, 2010 |
I agree with the above reviews. While being required for a Journalism Degree, the class has very little if anything to do with journalism. A huge waste of time, the lectures did not parallel the labs, and she was way too difficult in her grading for it only being a 200 level course.

I found this course to be uninteresting and, essentially, a waste of time. If you do not intend to use PhotoShop or Dreamweaver in the future, it is four months of unnecessary information and mounds of busywork. Unless this is a required course, do not bother.

Kim takes herself a little too seriously for a 200 level class. Right off the bat she maintains that only two people in the class will receive A's, and that any grade above a B will require work far above and beyond what is asked for in her instructions. Lectures are uninteresting and she demands in-class participation in the form of answering obvious or rhetorical questions because she "doesn't like to lecture." If you purchase the book you have almost all the information you'll need for the class. She institutes an attendance policy so you must attend her lectures, which regurgitate basically all the information from the book. The whole semester is essentially one big group project split into four smaller parts. She asks you to meet her outside of class to present projects if she falls behind in her syllabus instead of trying to catch up in class/lab. The tests are multiple choice and short answer. The lab is the best part of the class, long but at least somewhat intellectually stimulating.
