His tests are very fair and come straight out of the notes. Study the practise exams and you will get a B at least.

Dr. Auld is a very good professor. If you don't know something about nutrition by the end of this class there is no hope for you. Dr. Auld is knowledgeable and his lectures are enlightening. His tests can be tricky though. You must learn the material, not just memorize it, because he will word the questions in a way that can be difficult.

This guy is funny, he tries hard and likes his material. However, it is fairly hard to connect the notes with his tests. I have never missed a class, take good notes, and still got a 70%. Just be aware that sometimes a teacher and their notes don't coordinate with the tests very well.

Garry Auld is a great teacher! GO TO THE REVIEW SESSIONS!! You take a lot of notes in his class and only some of them are on the test, his review sessions tell you exactly what to study! The tests are straight from the notes! Study the review exams, most of the questions are the exact same. Overall, great class, great teacher! :)

This class was fun to go to because sometimes he knew what he was talking about and he was really involved in the class and his lectures. He puts past exams online as study tools. STUDY THEM!! I got high grades on all of the tests because I studied them and he uses a lot of the same questions and types of questions on the actual tests. The only reason why I didn't get an A in this class is because I didn't go all of the time. You learn a lot of interesting stuff and he knows all kinds of random facts that you won't forget. He's a great teacher.

Auld is one of the best teachers that I have had at CSU. He takes the time to draw well thought out diagrams as well as makes a special effort to answer students questions to the fullest. Strongly suggest taking this class with him.

FN 150 Sophomore Grade Earned: A General Ed 1:58 pm, May 10, 2006 |
On the first day of class, Auld warned us that this class was one of the more difficult survey courses offered and I totally brushed him off because my friends had really easy FN 150 classes. But this is one of the hardest classes I've taken at CSU. Since it's a survey class, there is a ton of information which makes it difficult to study for a 50 question test. But the material is really really interesting and 100% relevant to your own life so I would definitely suggest taking it. Auld is an awesome teacher with a no-bulls**t sense of humor.

I loved this class and found it to be very interesting however, it is very VERY difficult if you don't really have any science background. You are required to memorize functions of different parts of the body and then be able to manipulate the information and put it back into an equation to find the final result for a certain body part. I beleive that Auld is a good teacher but sometimes the material jsut seemed to go over my head and no matter how hard I studied, it didn't seem to make a difference. If you do take this class, take advantage of the practice tests on webCT. Alot of the test questions do come directly from the old tests.

Dr. Auld is a very smart person - sometimes that can be very helpful to a student who takes advantage of it, but if you sit in the back of the class and never participate or ask questions, you will hate this class.

FN 150 is an interesting class. However, Auld has a tendency to present the information in a very dry mannor. He doesn't use a lot of examples and more or less reads word for word from the power point slides. This works for many students so don't be discouraged by it. If you work hard and know your stuff you'll do fine.

The only drawback on Dr. Aulds course that each test is worth a large percent of your grade. The required diet project is only worth 10% of your grade, although it takes forever to do. Overall the things you learn are interesting and he presents material well. He also goes out of his way to find answers for students who ask questions even if the aren't relevant to lecture.
