MKT 365 Sophomore Grade Earned: A Required (Support) 6:49 pm, Dec 4, 2008 |
1 of 1 people found the following evaluation helpful: Ok, I am not sure what is going on with this page...maybe in the past Dr. Rob wasn't the best professor, but either he has turned around and become one of the best at CSU, or everyone from before was a bunch of whiny deadbeats that should have gone to a community college. I went to his class not even being signed up for it because there was no room in the class, and I was hooked from day one (I later had to join his class as independent study, thanks to all the deuchebags who signed up for class and never went). His lectures are interesting, relevant, and filled with stories and anecdotes from his history in business (which is clearly legitimate, unlike some professors who teach something they know only from books and others' stories)--basically, everything he talks about drives home his points so it's easy to conceptualize and remember. He is able to answer most any question, so he obviously knows his stuff. Don't text on your phone or read the paper or do sudoku in his class--he gets pretty fired up about that. Tests are NOT hard; 50 questions multiple choice, all of which are general principles, not stupid minute things that you need to memorize, and all straightforward (no trick questions). And he even gives you a study guide for it. A couple questions from each test are from the book, but for the most part it's all from the lectures, so just go to class, listen carefully to the lectures, and study for an hour or two for a couple nights before each exam and you will be golden. There is never any homework, but there is a big semester-long project. The project is time-consuming, but not necessarily hard, especially with all the information that is available on the internet. Just don't put it off because it's not something that you can just throw together two days before it's due like most college projects. Just pull your head out of your butt, act like it's the real deal, and take pride in your work. Don't try and BS anything, because he can see right through it (sometimes as I student I could see through others' BS). Overall, Dr. Rob is one of the best teachers I have had at CSU, and International Marketing has been one of my favourite classes. I would take another of his classes in a heartbeat. |

Just know straight up that Dr. Rob doesn't give A's or at least I don't know how its possible to get one in his class. So don't expect to boost your grade taking his class. But he does give great lectures. They are very interesting, and you will get a lot out of them even after the class is over. The book is pointless, you will not need it. The tests are really difficult which are straight out of the notes, in which you must know them inside and out and even pick up on unstated assumptions. The best piece of advise for your group project: pick a simple, easy to understand, good (not a service) otherwise you will regret it later on.

The tests are impossible, all information comes direcly from lectures and asumptions. So the book is almost pointless. Dr. Rob seems to not care if you leave class early or arrive late, but whatever you do dont fall asleep! The semester long project is only hard if your group is retarded. pick a country and product that you all can cordinate well on. If your ideas conflict in your marketing plan you will be graded harshly.

Dr. Rob's lectures are amazing and full of great information. But beware, the semester long project is time consuming and extremely challenging; however, it is a great way to apply your knowledge in a "real world" way. The tests definitely are NOT a breeze, so memorize specifics, and understand overarching themes of every subject discussed in class. The book he picked sucks so take good notes. Otherwise, I would recommend this as long as you don't have a busy semester.

Rob makes his course seem like it is going to be cake considering the way that he presents the material to the class, but do not take studying for his class lightly. The semester long project totally sucks ass. I suggest getting a head start on it asap. Unless you want to get down on your knees for this guy, expect a C. Another thing about Rob that sucks is the fact that he has 2 hours of office hours a week. That's weak. So if your schedule isn't totally flexible don't expect to see him outside of class. Good luck with this class, i would avoid it.

Dr. Rob is a nice guy, class is entertaining but be careful with this class. Its probably one of the toughest classes that I've taken to date at the University. Its not because the material is hard, its because the professor is hard. His tests are nothing short of impossible. The information he gives in class hardly pertains to the test, nor does the book. To be honest, I felt like I had walked into the wrong class on test day because not matter how hard you study, you won't do well. There is also a huge project for this class that is very time consuming. He is extremely picky. Take this class if your looking for a challange, otherwise avoid this professor all together.

Dr. Rob's tests are next to impossible because of the vague and confusing questions. He is an extremely difficult grader and I would not recommend taking any of his courses with the intent of boosting your grade.

Dr. Rob is one of the best professors I have ever had. His lectures are super interesting (i.e. not boring). I don’t know what the rest of the people are talking about in their evaluations but he is seriously the nicest professor I’ve had at CSU. Maybe he is not such a good Bk300 teacher but for International Marketing he’s the best. I almost let this website scare me out of taking his class but I’m glade I didn’t. Yes, the class is challenging and yes there is a big semester long project but if you get a good group its really not that bad. His tests are a little tricky but fair. Don’t let the other evaluations scare you; he is a great teacher!

I have never had a teacher that was such an asshole as R. Allerheiligen. He had no idea how to test us on material. A major deuche bag.

This teacher made an otherwise very interesting course difficult and, in some instenses, offensive. The material itself, I find, very interesting and valuable. The way in which he tests his students is horrible. The tests are 50 subjective questions that may, or may not, have anything to do with the material covered. The questions are very vague and detailed. Worst of all, he doesn't give you the tests or zip-strips back in class so you aren't quite sure what you missed. He does allow you to come into office hours and view your tests, but don't plan on him changing any of his questionable test questions. There was also one or two occasions where he showed his political side, obviously being Republican, and denounced the democratic party as "not having solid ideas like the republican party" giving reason why the Republican party won the election. I felt his comments were very offensive, and given recent teachers being forced to resign because of similar comments denouncing the war in Iraq, should be forced to resign as well (yet given the political nature of those at the top, very doubtful).

I don't believe my issue is with Rob Allerheiligen as much as it is with the structure of the course. The course would be comparable to quiting cigarettes cold turkey. The semester starts with a couple lectures and the professor gives you an outline for a semester project. Throughout the semester the professor teaches you things you need to know for exams, but there really isn't any guidance or stepping stones for the semester project except to do it and turn it in. I wish there were more exercises that would directly tie in to the project.
